A little time off

It's Wednesday night and I'm laying in a strange bed thinking about what I'm going to do tomorrow, I can't remember the last time I went away in the summer and here I am up at Meg's house on Cape Cod.

I think I'll spend part of my day riding around checking out the area. There are a lot of people up here and not many roads. That's probably pretty good in the winter for the locals but doesn't make it in summer.

I'm up here for the Jasinski family reunion and there always a lot of fun. For some reason our family is kind of strange We all get along. I don't ever remember any one having an argument not even with the Republicans.

And that brings me to this.

The other day at home I was in a grocery store shopping and had a Cape Cod baseball hat on and a T shirt my daughter Nellie gave me when she was a local fireman. It was a firehouse shirt with emblems and stuff. A man comes up to me and says What's that you got there a hat from Cape Cod? I said yes I picked it up the last time I was up there. He then says to me "I have never been up there, Never will go up there and never though a Fireman would go up there" and then he walks away. What's that about? There must be something going on up here that I don't know about. Come to think about it there is. Uncle Buzz and Bill Motto could be the problem. There always up here and strange things do happen when there together especially if Karen and the "Author" Martin are with them and there all drinking Jack and Manhattans. Yes as the man seemed to imply there could be a problem up here. I'll let you know how things go and if I spot any problems.

FUTURE BIRD WATCHERS OF AMERICA

The first ever meeting of The Future Bird Watchers Of America was held this afternoon. Maryjo lead the group discussion on the mating and feeding habits of various local birds. During the meeting Maryjo gave each participant a lesson in binocular usage and bird sound tracking.

In the picture at the right Kim Smith explains to Kelly (a young lady that Birdie brought home from Metro and then dumped.) The difference between the Spotted Owl and a Tuffed Tit Mouse

During the meeting Larry Grossenbacher thought he spotted a Flying Saucer.

NANUET RESTAURANT PIZZA

These pictures say it all. I've eaten Nanuet Pizza since I was a little kid. Back in the day before they moved to this location my father would take me on a cold winters night to pick up a few pies. On the ride home he would place the pies on a blanket and then put them on my lap to keep me warm. Back then there were only two kinds of pizza made, Cheese and what was called a Special. The Special is stilled made but only a hand full of people know its proper name. The special is a tomato, cheese and ground sausage pizza that still tastes exactly as it did when I was a kid. As with any Pizza it always tastes much better when eaten right out of the oven at the restaurant.

The Nanuet Pizza is one of the only pizzas I know of that can be half cooked, wrapped and taken on your trip to be finished cooking when you arrive at your destination. I personally have taken them to Virginia and before this country got conned into the homeland security deal pizzas were flown as far as California for a meal

MELS FAMOUS

Martin and I went to Mel's Army&Navy to get a Yankee baseball hat. Mel was sold out. After the big Yankee win last night half of the town stopped in at Mel's for hats. Martin and I had to run up to Nanuet to get one.

MARCO THE CHEF?

We don't know when this happened but now we know Marco can cook. Hey Marco whats for dinner?

A VISIT FROM SPAIN

Martin has come all the way from Spain to spend part of his summer vacation in the good old USA. After his long trip from his home he was whisked away for two (2) weeks of summer camp with his cousin Colin and has finally arrived at our home for much needed rest and relaxation.
Here is a shot of Martin enjoying his first decent breakfast since his arrival two weeks ago. He started with a Root Beer soda and lollipop then had scrambled eggs, bacon and a just out of the oven PETE'S BAGEL all was topped off with a glass of fresh squeezed Lemonade.

Last nite we watched the New York Yankees kick some Boston Red Sox butt and today we are taking a trip to Mel's Famous Army Navy Store to purchase a New York Yankee hat so we can root properly while watching today's game.

Martin says back in Spain they don't play baseball. They like Soccer and his team is the Champs of all of Europe. He wanted to make sure his Uncle Lenny knew that.

Uncle Syd provided a nice iced cooler full of assorted drinks. The day was topped off with a very nice Carvel Ice Cream Cake followed by a round of HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
